Use the Mac OS X desktop to rotate your programming cheet-sheets. Learn new tricks daily

Set Mac OS X Preferences for a new desktop cheat-sheet every 15 minutes.

A previous post on a VIM cheat-sheet has kind of morphed into a new idea. Tonight I was trying to learn some new jQuery tricks and came across this wonderful jQuery cheat-sheet. I wanted to set the reference as a desktop image. The problem was that I still enjoyed referencing the VIM cheet-sheet that I have. The solution is simple enough. Just make a folder in your home Picture directory called "cheat-sheets" and then have the desktop wallpaper set to that folder, not just an image in the folder. Just check the box that says "Change picture every [x amount] of minutes".

It may seem like a no-brainer, but part of learning programming languages is the memorization of the commands. Perhaps some people have their own cubical where they can simply print out a cheat-sheet and tack it to the wall. If you're like me, you carry a notebook around and tend to work in all manner of locations including armchairs, coffee shop tables and bus stop benches. The idea here is to keep giving your self a chance to bite off a little bit to chew on for a period of down time. Pick a command off the cheet sheet and Google it for five minutes. Then you'll know it ahead of time.

Most of the time, people use the rotating desktop feature of OS X to show off flowers, broads or horses, but you can also use it for educational purposes if you're sly enough.
